Therapy - Substance Use Checkups
Checkups & Treatment Consultation
Wondering if your alcohol, marijuana or drug use is becoming a problem?
I provide a confidential, respectful space to help you explore your relationship with alcohol, marijuana or other drugs. Because I am not affiliated with any treatment provider, I am able to offer unbiased feedback and independent recommendations and I never accept “kick backs” from any treatment provider for referrals.
Over two or three private sessions you will gain insight into your pattern of substance use, understand if your use meets the criteria for a substance use disorder, and hear about many of the ways that people and their families find recovery from drug and alcohol problems. Contact me by phone or email to ask questions or schedule your appointment.
Know its a problem but not sure what to do about it?
There are as many paths to wellness as there are people seeking recovery. How will you choose the right one for you? I will help you to understand your options, narrow your choices and know what to ask when making your decision.
Did you know…
…no one treatment approach is right for everyone?
…independent assessments are hard to find and most people end up doing treatment with the treatment center who did their assessment?
…treatment is more effective when people are given choices about treatment type?
…the majority of people who get help for their substance use problems do it without going away to residential rehab?
…although the majority of people looking for substance use treatment also have mental health concerns, only a minority of treatment programs are “dual diagnosis” providers?
…more expensive treatment doesn’t always mean better treatment?
As a therapist with years of experience helping families find the right treatment for them, I can help you make the right plan for you or your loved one. Free of any affiliations with treatment providers, my recommendations are based on my expert knowledge and your preferences, not bias towards any particular method or program.
The choice is yours.
“Before committing to a treatment program, get an independent assessment of the need for treatment, as well as the kind of treatment needed, by an expert who is not affiliated with the program you are considering."
“Only a small fraction of individuals receive treatment consistent with scientific knowledge about what works.”
